The Children's Room and Family Room, located just off the main dining room, are spaces for young children to enjoy indoor play and for people of all ages to enjoy play, games, arts, crafts, reading and other family oriented activities. The goal of these rooms is to help bring together neighbors in different phases of life in a way that is meaningful and mutually beneficial.
The Children's sub-circle is in charge of addressing questions and policy issues related to the Children's Room and Family Room. This sub-circle is currently led by Annie Michaels, who can be reached at anniemichaelis@gmail.com or 617-276-7693.
The following guidelines help maintain the rooms in good condition, and ensure that everyone can enjoy them. (these guidelines are also noted on signs posted in the rooms):
In general, the people who use the room are requested to tidy up after use. (It is important that toys are picked up off the floor to avoid tripping hazards and so that the floors can be easily vacuumed/cleaned.)
If a Cohousing resident is hosting visitors, that resident is ultimately responsible to make sure the rooms are clean and tidy after the visitors depart.
The bathroom is kept stocked with diapers, wipes, loaner clothes in case of accident, and other basic supplies. If any supplies run out, contact Annie: anniemichaelis@gmail.com.
The Family Room has quiet hours from 10pm to 10am - this is important to respect the sleep of the neighbors whose bedroom is directly adjacent to the Family room. If anyone is using the playroom during quiet hours the Family room door must be closed and "indoor voices" should be used.
