About EduMall 2.0 The ICT Connection

• ICT Masterplan Journey
  • Masterplan 1 (1997 – 2002)
    • laid a strong foundation for schools to harness ICT, particularly in the provision of basic ICT infrastructure and in equipping teachers with a basic level of ICT integration competency, which achieved a widespread acceptance for its use in education.
    • 4 Goals of Masterplan 1
      • Enhance linkages between the school and the world around it
      • Generate innovative processes in education
      • Enhance creative thinking, lifelong learning and social responsibility
      • Promote administrative and management excellence in the education system
  • Master Plan 2 (2003 – 2008)
    • built on this foundation to strive for an effective and pervasive use of ICT in education by, for example, strengthening the integration of ICT into the curriculum, establishing baseline ICT standards for students, and seeding innovative use of ICT among schools.
    • Vision
      • ICT will be pervasively and effectively used to enhance educational processes and structures.
      • By leveraging on ICT as a tool to customise education to meet the needs and abilities of our pupils, we will be able to support and develop lifelong learners as we work towards the overall vision of Thinking Schools, Learning Nation
• Masterplan 3
  • Vision
    • Focuses on both students and teachers as learners. It captures the primary affordance of ICT in enabling them to shape their personal learning experience, both as individuals and in collaboration with others. It envisages that through the use of ICT, learning will not just take place in the classroom, but wherever and whenever the learner chooses.
  • Outcome Goals:
    • self-directed and collaborative learning: learners to exercise a good range of 21st Century skills and dispositions that will lead to the desired outcomes of education.
    • cyber wellness: students are able to use technology in a safe way and are able to take responsibility for their own well-being even as technology is increasingly used to deepen and extend their self-directed and collaborative learning experiences.
  • Enabler Goals
    • Conditions and context to meet the Outcome Goal and to ensure the sustainability of these goals at a system level.
    • infrastructure requirements, teacher capacity, as well as factors that school leadership critically influence, such as school ICT vision and culture, the structure of classes and the school day, and the importance of high stakes assessment in the school curriculum.
  • Enabler Goal 1
    • School leadership, particularly the Principal, plays in casting a vision for the use of ICT in learning and teaching in the school, as well as in creating the conditions for teachers and students to use ICT in a meaningful way.
    • The ability of all school leaders to provide leadership in the use of ICT also has to be seen in the larger context of curriculum leadership to ensure coherence of ICT use within the curriculum.
  • Enabler Goal 2
    • Need for teachers to have the capacity to plan, as well as deliver ICT-enabled learning experiences that will foster self-directed and collaborative learning among learners as well as guiding them in using ICT safely and responsibly.
  • Enabler Goal 3
    • Create the infrastructure to achieve the proposed mp3 vision, both at the individual school and MOE levels.
    • Combination of factors be considered to make possible the extension of ICT use for learning to the home environment for students.
