Ordinal Numbers

These pink things are buttons you can click to practice ordinal numbers. :)

Try narrating what someone did using ordinal numbers to sequence it. For example,

Ayer, estudié mucho.

Primero, estudié para un examen.

Segundo, estudié español en Duolingo.

Tercero, estudié la gimnasia.

Pretend you are in a long line and you're trying to tell someone on the phone what place you're in. At first, you are the 10th person in line, but eventually you are the 1st.

Soy la décima persona.

Keep it going.

Direct Object Pronouns

I can

  1. Explain what a direct object is and find one in an English sentence and in a Spanish sentence (given I understand the words).

  2. I can replace various direct objects with their equivalent pronouns.

  3. I can rephrase a sentence, replacing the direct object with its pronoun. I can do this without leaving unneeded words in the sentence and putting words in the correct order.

  4. I can reply to questions, using direct object pronouns in my responses.

Direct Object Pronouns

Take notes from this slideshow. It contains practice and videos, graphics and charts.

You will have a graded assignment for Direct Object Pronouns outside of Edgenuity. I will give out paper copies and post a digital copy to Google Classroom.

Indirect Object Pronouns

Understand it in English.

Verbs dealing with communication (says, tells, asks, requests, writes, sends, yells, whispers, etc) usually have a "message" being given to "someone". The "someone" is always the indirect object, even if the "message" isn't referred to in the sentence.

Verbs that use indirect object pronouns:

Hint: "something" in each sentence is the DIRECT object. The "SOMEONE" that receives the something is the INDIRECT OBJECT.

  1. to send (mandar) -- I send something to SOMEONE

  2. to write (escribir) -- I write something to SOMEONE

  3. to promise (prometer) -- I promise something to SOMEONE

  4. to carry/take (llevar) -- I take something to SOMEONE

  5. to sing (cantar) - I sing a song to/for SOMEONE

  6. to allow (dejar and permitir) - I allow SOMEONE to do SOMETHING

  7. to win (ganar) - I win something for SOMEONE
