What words do you already know? How much can you translate without looking up the words?
What words/sentences can you figure out from context (maybe there are cognates)?
If you're a native speaker, are there any words that the textbook is using that your family says a different way? Which ones? How do you say them? (My family doesn't say "hacer cola" for stand in line. We say "formarse.")

In an airport, "checked luggage" has a unique meaning. Oversized suitcases can't be carried with you into the passenger section of the plane. You have to allow the airline to tag them and take care of them reaching your destination. When you hand them over, it's called "checking your luggage" and they'll refer to that suitcase as a "checked bag."
