Spanish has TWO ways to talk about being

I am: Yo soy (for characteristics) / Yo estoy (for emotions)

You are: Tú eres (for characteristics) / Tú estás (for emotions)

He is: él es (for characteristics) / él está (for emotions)

She is: Ella es (for characterstics) / ella está (for emotions)

Examples:

  • Yo soy alta. Estoy feliz.

  • ¿Estás contento? ¿Eres artístico?

  • Ella es guapa. Está nerviosa hoy.

  • Pedro es delgado. Está preocupado.

Look at your vocabulary list of characteristics and emotions.

For each characteristic, say Yo soy _______ or Yo no soy ______.

For each emotion, say Yo estoy ______ or Yo no estoy _______.

Don't forget to SAY the adjective that goes in the blank.
