Performance Task 1A

Outline a Play

Task Detail

As a group, begin to outline a play that you will perform for the rest of your classmates. One group member will be the main character that gets bullied and needs help dealing with this problem. Another group member will be the friend that teaches the main character how to find a trusted adult. The other group member will be the person who bullies. The final group member will be the trusted adult that helps the student and teaches them how to set personal boundaries with the person who bullies. Identify the setting, character names, events, and solution for your play.

Engaging Scenario:

Your younger friend has been dealing with a bully while playing out at recess. They don’t know what to do because it keeps happening and they person who is bullying won’t stop. You have recently been learning about how to access trusted adults and setting personal boundaries and have an idea for how you could help your friend. You decide to write a play showing them how they can handle their situation. You will perform this play for them to teach them how to handle these challenging times.

Detailed Student Directions:

Today you will begin working with a group to write a play that you will perform for your classmates. Your group will consist of a group of 4 students. Each of you will have a specific role in your play.

In your group today you will decide which group member each character will play, where your play will be taking place, what your characters’ names are, what events (beginning, middle, and end) will be happening in your play, and the solution to the problem in your play. Once this is decided, you will complete a graphic organizer that fills in each piece of the play that is required.
