About

SDCOE K-12 Comprehensive Health Education Grant

In May 2022, San Diego Unified was awarded the SDCOE K-12 Comprehensive Health Education Grant. The goal of the grant was to provide standards-based health education instruction that empowers students with the understanding and skills necessary to make informed personal health decisions and contribute to healthier communities. The resources included on this site were collected and developed by a SDUSD Health Education Team consisting of  K-12 Teacher Fellows and Central Office Staff. This standards based curriculum focuses on the health content areas of Nutrition and Physical Activity and Mental, Emotional and Social Health.

The Health Education Team developed standards aligned units of study that include unit learning targets and student success criteria, essential questions, learning progressions and quick checks, performance tasks and end of unit short constructed response and extended response prompts. Also included are sample lessons and activities from the CA Health Framework and Model Learning Activities.
