About the Project

Ball Rush is a free to play Casual Arcade Mobile Game.

Sling yourself upwards; collecting points, dodging obstacles and traversing changing environments.

HISTORY

Lab 5 was conceived in 2021 by a small team of four university students. The company is named after the very room they sat in, "Lab 5", where they decided to collaborate. Ball Rush is the first release for the Lab 5 studio.

Inspiration:

Ball Rush was inspired by games such as Sling Kong and Doodle Jump.

Project Process

Early brainstorm drawings for the general game concept, this is where we explored the idea of using 3D models to uniquely show the environments of a typically 2D gameplay idea.

Early concept prototype in the initial presenting phase, a simple version showing off the fling and customisation mechanics we wanted to introduce. Playable in the browser [here]

The first prototype of the actual project. While this version did include customisation it did not have all the art levels or deeper mechanics. It did still show off the concept well enough for playtesting.

The (practically) final version, currently playable for you! It includes 24 player skins, 4 environments, a store for premium currency and advertisements!
