Confinement

Confinement is a thriller told in reverse chronological order designed to emulate the fears of coming to terms with one's sexuality.

Confinement is not only a blatant critique of homophobia still present within modern society, but an exploration of the mental and physical toll that ensues as a consequence of this harassment. The pessimistic nature of the screenplay reflects the mental toll the art of 'coming out' may take on an individual instead of a blatant warning against the idea of expressing your identity.
Our Audio Team was tasked with creating a score, and mixing the film.

What Did We Actually Do?

We used Pro Tools, Ableton and Logic Pro to create, edit and mix our project. As a whole our group was thrown in the deep end, with next to no experience working with film sound. We were able to get by on Pro Tools fundamentals, intuition and a healthy amount of online learning!
It was a challenge getting so many moving parts and sound effects to sit right in the mix. Thankfully we had a Film team that was very responsive and helpful. They did a lot of the legwork in this project which set us up for success (well, hopefully it was a success...)

The group worked extremely hard, and we're hoping all of that work paid off at the end. We all learned an incredible amount, ranging from the mix process to the important of pre-production, and we're confident we'll do a much better job in future projects.
