Here you will find students studio projects ranging from their 3rd trimester to their 5th trimester, as well as links to the Game major projects.
Studio units are run across 9 hours each week, where SAE facilitates a creative production studio, where students can experience team work, cross collaborate with different disciplines, and gather user testing and feedback from their peers.
In Studio 1 students are introduced to a simulated studio environment. In 21T2 students were tasked with making a series of connected mini-games as a way of understanding project management methodologies and issues.
In Studio 2 students develop rapid prototypes across multiple platforms: mobile, arcade/console, and Virtual Reality. Students spent three weeks on the first two briefs, and six weeks on the VR brief.
In Studio 3 students develop 'Meaningful Games,' which focus on communicating concepts and/or persuading an audience. In 2021T1, students had a 'passion brief' and a 'client brief' with the Tech Desk, forcing them to understand the compromises required when balancing real world demands and personal interests.
In Studio 4, students focus on 'Commercial Games' with an emphasis on ethical monetisation, branding and promotion, which helps them prepare for their major project.
In Major Projects, students must work across disciplines - which in games usually means animation and graphic design. They spend one trimester focusing on ideation and prototyping, and the second on completing and polishing their project, including marketing and promotion.
