Assistant County Attorney

John Bowen

Assistant County Attorney

Wright County Attorney's Office

Job Description

My office represents the State of Minnesota and citizens of Wright County in court cases.

My office prosecutes criminal cases and works to ensure that people who commit crimes are held accountable for their actions and also get the help they need if they are experiencing mental health or drug/alcohol problems.

Education and Training

Four year bachelor degree plus a three year law degree.

Wages

The salary range really depends on where you work. If you work for a private law firm, you can possibly make a very good living. If you are a starting attorney in my office, you would start at about $50-60,000.

Keep in mind, you could have a lot of student loan debt, so even if you are making a good salary, your loan payments could be hundreds of dollars a month.

There is a lot of competition for jobs.  Jobs are a little easier to get if you are willing to live and work outside of the metro area.

Job Challenges

I am dealing with people in stressful and complicated situations. Sometimes, people can get upset and there can be conflict in those situations.
