Job Description

I have been with Three Rivers Park District full time for 21 years. 25 years all together as I was a seasonal before being hired on full time. 

I have worked in several different parks with the park district and held several positions as well from a Campground Shift Lead, Facility Coordinator,  Facility Supervisor, Group Sales Coordinator, Guest Services Supervisor and now to my current position as the Guest Services & Events Manager.  

My job is to provide direction, leadership and management of the Three Rivers Park District’s guest services, sales and event operations. Key management areas include the district-wide reservation system, group sales & events, catering program, guest services operations at the Park District Administrative Center, and park district event logistics and sponsorship. In addition, I manage, coordinate, market and sell the Three Rivers Park District facilities, services, and recreation and education opportunities in order to increase park use and non-tax revenue received by the Park District. I am also responsible for managing the summer rental operations and sales and event staff at Hyland Hills Ski Area and Gale Woods Farm PaVilion. 

Education and Training

A high school diploma and a college degree in Park and Recreation, Business Management, Sales & Events or in place of a degree equivalent  years of experience.

Wages

Starting wage $30.00 per hour 

Starting salary $62,000 per year 

Wage with years of experience $40.00 per hour

Salary with years of experience $84,000 per year 

Career Projection

Park and Recreation is a growing field as we tend to have general openings for entry level positions. 

Management positions are harder to come by as a lot of people in the field have worked their way up into these positions and tend to stay for a long time. 

Job Highlights

Being involved in a lot of different areas with the park district. Working with lots of staff and park guests. Providing public services. Managing the areas I manage. Big picture thinking. Getting out to the parks and the events and services we offer.

Job Challenges

It can sometimes be challenging to manage all the areas that I do as it is a lot of multitasking and sometime managing staff can be challenging as well.
