Job Description

I am the President of Bergerson - Caswell, Inc., a water well contractor focused on commercial, municipal, residential and irrigation water supplies, environmental drilling and geothermal loop fields.  I am the chief executive, responsible from everything from employee and management development, financial analysis and strategy, regulatory compliance, product development and now, pandemic management.

Education and Training

There are a lot of career pathways in this industry requiring everything from a high school diploma to a four year degree.  

Wages

Most employees have a starting wage of around $20/hr, while experienced journeymen make an annual salary ranging from $65,000 to $80,000.  Executives and department managers can earn an income in excess of $100,000.

Career Projection

This field is not necessarily a growing field, but is highly necessary and is going through dramatic generational turn over.  Since we deal with the worlds most precious resource, there is a perpetual need for people who can service wells and maintain healthy water supplies.

Job Challenges

Our product is constructed underground, meaning we don't get the benefit of watching things come together.  We have to plan ahead and execute seamlessly in order to build and maintain groundwater supplies.  It takes a lot of knowledge and experience to do it right.

Advice

Be ready to start at the bottom and work hard, it takes a lot of time and dedication to learn the different technical skills to be good in this field.
