SAMR

SAMR Model

How can you tell that the incorporation of technology into your lessons is “working?” Created in 2010, by Ruben Puentedura, the SAMR Model helps teachers conceptually reflect on the integration of technology in their classrooms. Thinking of SAMR as a ladder, progressively becoming more transformative at the highest tiers, the levels of technology integration are: Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition. Check out the slide deck to the left to learn SAMR Model basics.

Strategy 1, Action Plan 3, Action Step 1, of the Rialto Unified School District's Strategic Plan:

“Use the Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition (SAMR) technology model to increase rigor and create innovative learning opportunities that move beyond the substitution level.”
