Add Expiration

File Access Expiration

When sharing files from your Drive, you can set an expiration date to limit or cut off access to that file (this feature unavailable for files in shared drives).

  1. Click Share

  2. Find the user and click the drop-down arrow next to the button with their share capabilities.

  3. Select “Add expiration.” 30 days is the default expiration term.

  4. Click on the edit pencil if you want to select a new expiration date from the calendar.

  5. Send

You can always remove a file access expiration date by following the same steps and selecting “Remove expiration.”

Distribute Objects

Guessing can be fun, but do you want to make sure that objects on your Slides are perfectly distributed? There's an easy way!

  1. Hold down the shift key & select the objects that you want to evenly distribute. You'll know you have selected the objects when they're surrounded by blue outlines. (Clicking an area outside the objects and dragging your mouse to select objects will also work).

  2. Select the “Arrange” menu at the top of your screen

  3. Hover over “Distribute” and then select either “Horizontally” or “Vertically”

Tip: The “Align” tool in the “Arrange” menu is another way to make sure your objects are perfectly placed. When you select multiple objects, the align tool will align the top, middle, or bottom of the objects, depending on what you select.

The circus themed icons 🤡 at the bottom of the slide to the right are evenly distributed.

Pin Tabs

Pin Chrome Tabs

Is there an online resource that you don't want to accidentally close out of? Pinning the tab in Chrome may be the solution. The benefits of pinning a tab include:

📌 the tab will take up less space

📌 the tab can't be closed

📌 the tab will still be there even if you close out of Chrome entirely

You can pin as many tabs as you need to, they will remain on the left side of your browser until you're ready to unpin.

Tip: You can arrange the order of your tabs from left to right by clicking on a tab and dragging to the left or right

🔎 What are people Googling? 🔍

“Gas prices near me” was the #1 trending search of our local area in 2022, followed by “remote jobs near me.” That's a big difference from the #1 trending search in Palm Springs, which was “monkeypox vaccine near me,” or from Portland, Oregon's top search of “best daycare near me.” See what other searches made the top of the list in our area by clicking the link to the left.

Students can discover what is trending around the country by entering a zip code or city name in the search bar. Or simply use the “Explore Map” option to geographically compare trending searches. The results page will tell you what each area's top searched recipe was. The Jennifer Aniston salad was the top recipe in 3 different cities 👀.

Want your students to develop Google Sites to show off their learning? Two VIRTUAL upcoming Google Sites workshops. These workshops will be conducted in two parts.

In Part 1 you'll learn how to create a custom Site “shell” that will then be filled with content in Part 2.
