Seesaw (K-5) Learning Platform
All K-5 Rialto USD teachers have access to premium Seesaw teacher accounts. Premium accounts have unlimited access to the Seesaw Library, which is loaded with tons of research-based/ standards aligned curriculum activities developed by experts. Spanish and English audio instructions for students are included in many Seesaw Library activities.
Seesaw's platform gives teachers new ways to scaffold instruction for English Learners to accelerate language and learning outcomes.
#1: Audio Directions. Record voice instructions for any Seesaw activity.
#2: Visuals. Support vocabulary and comprehension by uploading photos and illustrations to accompany text.
#3: Modeling. Teachers can record a video demoing a skill for students to watch as many times as they need.
#4: Voice: With Seesaw, ELs get multiple opportunities to practice speaking every day.
#5: Alternate Assessments. Going beyond pencil and paper ensures language isn't a barrier to ELs showing what they can do.
Assessing Speaking & Listening
Fluency testing for students can be time-consuming. Seesaw makes it simple to quickly assess students' reading levels and to follow their progress over time. Students can independently record their reading in Seesaw using the multimodal tools. Stored in the Seesaw journal, teachers can evaluate student reading fluency and easily track student advancement toward their reading objectives.
