Speech to Text Google Translate

Google Translate offers free speech to text translation services between English and hundreds of other languages. To translate using your computer's microphone:

  1. Open Google Translate.

  2. Choose the languages to translate to and from.

  3. Click on the microphone on the bottom and speak into the microphone. When you’re finished, click stop ⏹️.

Once the translation is complete, click on the audio icon 🔊 to have it read aloud. Click on the copy icon to copy the translation for pasting into another document.

Once the Google Translate Chrome extension is installed, you can pin it to your browser by clicking on the Extensions button (black puzzle piece) to the left of your profile avatar. Next, click the pushpin icon 📌 to the right of Google Translate in the extensions list. The pushpin will turn blue.

Next, you’ll need to customize the Google Translate extension by clicking on the extension icon and then selecting Extension Options. Change “My primary language.” Save.

To use the Google Translate extension, first highlight the text and activate the extension. Because Spanish was selected as “My primary language” the Spanish translation will automatically appear along with the original English text. Click on the audio icons 🔊 to hear the words read aloud.
