Always evolving, pizza is essentially a loaded up flatbread. I love pizza for it's creativity: You get to choose the thickness, cheeses, and design the topping combination. This recipe uses red sauce, but feel free to experiment with the flavor profiles of alfredo sauce.
This pizza can be cut into 6-8 squares or slices, giving you enough for sharing or saving for your morning breakfast. Don't have time to make the dough? Try refrigerated bread dough, canned biscuit dough, or a premade crust.
Yield: 6-8 slices
Ingredients
1 cup pizza sauce
1 cup mozzarella cheese
¼ cup flour for dusting countertop
Optional toppings: 10-15 pieces turkey or beef pepperoni, chopped onion, olives, green or red pepper, mushrooms, banana pepper slices, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1/4 cup parmesan
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400
Place a piece of parchment onto a cookie sheet or round pan
Bake the pizza crust for 5 -7 minutes. This helps the crust cook a bit first so that it is not soggy.
Remove from oven and spread sauce, mozzarella cheese, and optional toppings over the pizza crust.
Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted to your preference.
Allow to cool for up to 5 minutes before slicing to let the cheese set up.
Notes
Before beginning: Clean your work surfaces, start your hot, soapy dishwater, and assemble all of your ingredients and equipment.
Store all leftovers promptly in the fridge, ideally on the top shelf.
