A request and a favorite, these french toast sticks are a great study break snack and the perfect combination of sweet, warm, cinnamony french toast with a touch of nutella
The aroma of these sticks can truly motivate the tired, weary teen. Have some syrup ready for dunking.
Yield: 2 servings of sticks
Ingredients
⅔ cup milk
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla
Pinch salt
4 slices bread
1 TBSP butter
2 TBSP Nutella per 'sandwich'
Topping
½ tsp cinnamon
1 TBSP sugar
Instructions
Preheat your frying pan or griddle
Whisk milk, eggs, vanilla, salt in a large bowl
Mix the cinnamon and sugar together in a medium bowl and set aside
Spread Nutella evenly over the bread, like you are making a sandwich.
Cut the ‘Nutella sandwich’ into 3 to 4 pieces. You could cut the crusts off
Add butter to the preheating pan
Gently dip the pieces of ‘Nutella sandwich’ into the egg mixture (Repeat with all slices)
Transfer to the hot frying pan or griddle. Cook for 3-4 minutes
Flip. Cook until browned on the other side 3-4 minutes
Gently roll the cooked pieces into the sugar and cinnamon mixture
Plate and serve with berries and/or syrup
