About Monica: Monica is a Kinesiology major who studied abroad in Wellington, New Zealand. During her program, she had the incredible opportunity to immerse herself in a diverse range of healthcare practices, which broadened her perspective of the world. Engaging in a comprehensive curriculum centered around health and well-being, she gained profound insights into preventive care, health promotion, and community-based services. Additionally, her studies shed light on the origins of Māori culture, offering a unique and invaluable perspective on indigenous healthcare practices. Beyond academics, this awe-inspiring experience fostered tremendous personal growth and resilience in Monica. As she embraced life in a different country and navigated through new environments, she was able to step out of her comfort zone and cultivate a new sense of independence and self-confidence. The cherished memories she created, the lifelong friendships she formed, and the invaluable knowledge she gained during her study abroad journey in Wellington have profoundly shaped Monica's future pursuits. Inspired by her experience, Monica has now dedicated herself to becoming a peer adviser, driven to empower other students on their own transformative journeys of exploration and self-discovery. 

Advice to Prospective Education Abroad Students: After my study abroad experience, I highly encourage students to consider participating in a Penn State education abroad program. The opportunities for personal growth, academic enhancement, and cross-cultural understanding are truly immeasurable. By immersing yourself in a different culture, you'll gain a broader perspective of the world and develop essential skills that will set you apart from others. As a peer adviser, I am here to support and guide you every step of the way, especially if you face challenges due to having a major with strict requirements. I am dedicated to helping you overcome any obstacles you may face so don’t feel discouraged. Whether you need help in choosing the perfect program, navigating the application process, or preparing for your journey, I will be here to advise you. Together, we can discuss the many education abroad programs Penn State has to offer and their endless possibilities. I am excited to help you in any way you need and be a part of your incredible journey.
