"I’ve always wanted to go abroad and Australia was one of the countries I always wanted to visit, so it was a no brainer for me to jump on the opportunity. University of Melbourne is one of the best universities to study abroad at, and I loved the atmosphere inside and outside the classroom. Visiting different cities in Australia like Sydney, Gold Coast, and Brisbane were amazing. I was even able to travel to Bali, Indonesia. I got to feed Kangaroos and held a Koala bear. Meeting students from all around the world was insightful. I still keep in touch with some. I attended festivals, museums, and tried new foods in Melbourne city.
Even though Australians speak English, there were a lot of different terms. This made language more of a barrier than I had anticipated. For example, the trunk of a car is called a boot. Since I am going in the PR/ marketing direction, studying abroad has taught me that if you want to stand out, you have to cater to everyone. Don’t be afraid to expand your horizons.
Don’t be afraid to explore the world, even if it’s all the way on the other side. Do it. Find your city. Submit your application. Get on that plan and go. It’s scary but the adrenaline is like no other."
