This page will help you prepare for your return to the U.S. and Penn State after your time abroad.
Reverse Culture Shock
While abroad, things at home and on campus - and even you - will have changed
Just like when you arrived in your host country, you will have to readjust to life in the U.S.
You might have very little trouble readjusting, or it might be very difficult
You may notice that your friends and family grow tired of hearing “Well, when I was abroad ….”
You may feel disconnected or disinterested in what happened at home while you were abroad
You may have new world views or values that conflict with the values of other Americans
Getting involved in the global community on campus is a great outlet for the mix of emotions you might feel after returning from your time abroad.
