I am a third-year student at Penn State Abington, pursuing a degree in Computer Science. My interest in this field developed from its versatility and its potential to create positive change across various sectors. I am incredibly excited about the opportunity to use my skills to make a tangible impact on society and improve people's lives.
I applied to the Perreault Fellows Program because it presents an incredible opportunity to turn this passion into reality. The program’s focus on improving human well-being aligns deeply with my own values, as I aspire to use my expertise in the future to contribute positively to society. Whether through developing healthcare technology, creating sustainable solutions, or designing innovative digital tools, I am elated about using my skills to address societal challenges. This experience abroad will not only deepen my understanding of how technology can promote social good but also help me develop the skills I need to make a meaningful contribution to the world.
It is an honor to be part of this program, and I am beyond grateful. I hope to inspire others to take part in this extraordinary journey and embrace the opportunity to make a lasting, positive impact on the world.
Hello! My name is Chelsea Parker and I am an Integrated B.S/M.B.A Marketing major at Penn State Harrisburg with a focus on Global Marketing. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. As someone from a diverse city, I am pursuing a career in consulting with the goal of helping businesses enhance their operations and build stronger connections with people and other organizations.
Learning about different communities, cultures, and environments has always been a passion of mine. Through this passion I have been able to connect with great people, learn so much about different places and their history, and gain more knowledge on skills and hobbies of mine such as art, cooking, and learning Spanish. These interests have deepened my understanding of businesses across various levels and have helped me to learn how different factors influence business strategies and development. Due to these interests, I was led to a great opportunity like the Perrault Fellows Program! The global experience I will gain during my time in Barcelona, Spain this summer will further shape me into a more well-rounded individual and businesswoman by focusing on the solutions that will help businesses to succeed, and I’m more than excited for the journey to begin.
Currently in my third year at Penn State University Park, I study Biology and more specifically am interested in Ecology. I am pursuing a minor in Wildlife and Fisheries Science, with a deep interest in conservation, education, and management. After graduation, I am looking to pursue a Master's degree in a field relating to wildlife conservation or education. Outside academics, I play the clarinet, make art, read, and enjoy being outdoors!
Before coming across the Perrault Fellowship, I had already discovered an abroad program that spoke to my interests. Learning about the fellowship was a game changer because it provided the opportunity to pursue this program further, when otherwise I might not have had the chance. Now, I will be traveling to Cape Town, South Africa during the upcoming summer through the aid of the Perrault Fellowship, having the opportunity to explore the impacts of wildlife trade and helping to determine sustainable solutions that could globally benefit people. I believe this experience will deepen my understanding of social aspects surrounding conservation efforts and provide an incredible experience of learning.
Hi! My name is Rokia Kone, and I’m a rising fourth-year Finance major with a minor in Information Systems Management at Penn State’s Smeal College of Business. I’m passionate about financial markets, fintech, and the ways finance and technology can drive innovation, inclusion, and impact in underserved communities.
Born and raised in Maryland with Malian roots and an international educational background, I’ve developed a strong interest in global finance, international markets, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). After graduation, I plan to pursue a master’s degree and a career in consulting or fintech, helping mission-driven companies grow.
When I first heard about the Perreault Fellows Program, I wasn’t sure I’d get in—but I took the chance, and I’m so glad I did. I love learning about different cultures, connecting with people from diverse backgrounds, and exploring how global forces shape business. I’m proud to be the first finance student from Smeal to be accepted into this program, and I hope my journey inspires others—especially students from underrepresented backgrounds—to pursue opportunities that push them to grow.
I also strongly encourage other business students to apply. In today’s global economy, experiences like this are truly invaluable.
This summer, I’ll be interning in Cape Town, South Africa at a female-led African venture capital fund that invests in early-stage, innovation-driven tech startups across the continent. I’m excited to gain hands-on global experience in finance and broaden my perspective.
I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity and look forward to learning, growing, and experiencing a new country along the way!
