Education Abroad Program: Florence: International Studies Institute (ISI) at Palazzo Rucellai (Spring 2024)
Major: Biology
About Bailee: Bailee Washington is a junior majoring in Biology. She had an enriching experience studying abroad in Florence, Italy, during the Spring 2024 semester. Through the ISI Florence Biology Track program, she took crucial courses for her major, such as BIO 240 and CHEM 212, while also getting to take an Italian language and Food History of Italy course. The program’s educational excursions provided her with hands-on learning opportunities in labs, museums, and much more. Additionally, Bailee and a few friends she met at ISI Florence organized a volunteer project to support a local women’s shelter. Her time in Florence also allowed her to explore various parts of Italy, with Pompeii being a personal favorite. Bailee has chosen to become a peer adviser to be a guide for those who want to study abroad and those who are about to partake in their education abroad journey!
Advice to Prospective Education Abroad Students: As someone who knew they wanted to study abroad before even applying to college, I was very nervous about going, especially as the time to leave was getting closer. I look back now and I am so happy that I went. I gained great connections, met new friends, and got the experience of a lifetime. My advice to prospective education abroad students is that being in the unknown will probably make you nervous, but that is why I am here to help you whether you are deciding to study abroad, need help finding a program, want someone to make the going abroad preparation less stressful, and more!
