December 20, 2021

Dear Families,

As we head nearer to the New Year, this is a reminder that we do not have school on Thursday or Friday this week. We will return from winter break on January 4th. As 2021 winds down, there are a lot of great things happening at King. Most recently, two Matinicus students, have been published in the Press Herald. As part of the expedition, Engineering Your Energy Future, all students wrote letters to the editor. Evie Jones and Clara Woods were published. Check them out!

Congratulations Evie and Clara!

This is a reminder that all students that participate in co-curricular activities (sports, clubs, etc.) must submit proof of vaccination or signed consent to participate in pooled testing by December 22 to continue to participate. Please see the letter that was previously sent to families.

On behalf of the King staff we hope that you have a safe and healthy start to the new year. We look forward to seeing everyone return in January.

"Part of the story is to prove a lot of people wrong who are saying, 'Kids weren't in school enough; they didn't learn anything this year.' In fact, we believe that you are stronger learners as a result." - Caitlin LeClair, Principal, King Middle School

How do we learn from Covid to build stronger schools? Why not ask students? Check out this model from an EL Education school as they engage students in reimagining their education after months of remote learning. King Middle School shows how we can honor student strengths while still acknowledging challenges illuminated during Covid.
