Unit of Inquiry

WHAT WE DID THIS WEEK:

My Sketch Map! Students practiced creating a sketch map of an area they are familiar with (their classroom, school, bedroom or neighborhood). Students made sure to include the main elements of a sketch map (a key, symbols, a compass rose, different colors for different things, and a title).
Map Skills: Students explored a variety of maps, identifying their key elements.
Assembly presentations (Ms. Diana's Class) Each student presented his/her county to PYP2 & 3. We all enjoyed learning about the different places we come from.
Me on the Map by Joan Sweeny. Students located themselves on a world map and discussed where they currently live in Muscat.

Math

WHAT WE DID THIS WEEK:

Locating: North, South, East & West in our classroom.
Following directions: Left, Right, Up, Down.
Exploring coordinate/reference grids.
Skip Counting: Students joined dots (skipping in 2s, 5s or 10s) to create the shape of a continent.
2D Shapes: Counting sides and vertices to name and draw 2D shapes.

Phonics/English

WHAT WE DID THIS WEEK:

Me on the Map by Joan Sweeny. Students identified learned letter sound combinations and exception words in the story.
Weekly letter sounds, focus words, exception words (reading) and exception words (spelling)
Independent and partner reading time.

اللغة العربية:

تم استكمال مراجعة أفكار النص القصصي (سيكبرون)

وتم تصنيف مجموعة من ظروف الزمان والمكان الشائعة، ثم توظيفها داخل عبارات صحيحة

بحث الطلاب عن أنواع الخرائط المختلفة من خلال البحث الإلكتروني، وقاموا باستكشاف شكل الخريطة وتفاصيلها من خلال مُجسم خريطة العالم.

تم إرسال قصة للقراءة على موقع (أ ب ت)

أرجو سماعها ثم إجابة التمارين التفاعلية المُرسلة معها.

ـ تم إرسال قصة ورقية اليوم، أرجو مُساعدة الطالب في

قراءة القصة، وضرورة إرسالها بعد الانتهاء منها حتى يتمكن من أخذ قصة جديدة

ـ تم إرسال نسخة ورقية للواجب اليوم مع الطالب، يُرجى الانتهاء من الواجب وإعادة إرساله يوم الثلاثاء

التربية الإسلامية

ـ تم مراجعة حفظ سورة (الزلزلة)+ حديث (أركان الإسلام) من خلال الروتين القرآني مع الطلاب.

ـ تفسير آيات سورة العاديات من خلال الخريطة الذهنية للسورة، بالإضافة إلى حفظ آيات السورة الكريمة من الآية (1) حتى الاية (11)، أرجو مراجعة حفظ الايات في البيت.

ـ ذكر الطلاب مواقف حياتيه توضح أهمية التعاون من خلال درس (أنا متعاون) كما استطاعوا حفظ الحديث الشريف صفحة 65

Dear PYP 2 Parents:

I would like to share our Arabic outcomes for the second week in Unit 2:

We started to learn about directions in Arabic by songs and dance. and use Antonio toys to learn the directions. Thank you Antonio :)
We learned about Type of Maps and we focused on the Country map then we located where our home country and what it looked like then .
We learned our country name in Arabic and how we say I'm from in Arabic.
We learned about kind transportation writing and reading
