• Discuss advantages and disadvantages of the dairy industry

• Review dairy data

• Make a set of dairy cattle breed flashcards. Use the breed PowerPoint posted in google classroom to find the 5 dairy cattle breeds you must learn for this unit. The flashcards should be made the same way as they were made for all other species.

Objective: Identify major parts of dairy cattle and their structural importance

Leading Question: What are the 4 areas cattle are evaluated on?

• View slides 10-11 on the dairy cattle ppt. and take notes on judging dairy cattle.

• Identify the parts of a cow

• Judge a class of dairy cattle. You should use the unified score card for judging purposes and rank them 1-4 with 1 being the best and 4 being the worst. So if you like cow number 3 the best, then 2, then 4 and then 1, your ranking would look like this: 3241. Then compare your results with those of the professionals.
