The Journal Club is a past project for staff by the Academy. It was a staff learning community where like-minded staff meet informally to consider recent evidence in pedagogical research. By focusing on recent articles and relating them to experiences in leaning and teaching, a positive environment was formed to share ideas and questions. As a form of continuous professional learning it offers staff opportunities to review and make changes to their everyday practice, leading to reflection and reviews of practice, policies and procedures in their work areas and making improvements to students’ experience and success.
"Through contributing I am working with like-minded people and developing and refreshing skills and knowledge. The people attending are doing various levels of qualifications and are a made up of diverse subject fields so we can all learn from each other."
"The Journal Club offers something really different - a new place to learn and explore topics together and for me has reintroduced a bit more academic exercise into my weekly delivery and set me new challenges! I don't always know the answers, but I love being part of the group to look at new approaches together in a diverse team across different Faculties and hopefully be responsive to new opportunities to innovative approaches within the College."
