Turnitin for SpeedGrader

Turnitin is a technology that looks for similarity, and helps teachers to identify issues with citations and plagiarism. A Turnitin report highlights any text in the assignment that already appears in Turnitin’s database of student papers, web content, periodicals, journals, and publications. Turnitin ensures academic integrity through plagiarism prevention by fostering critical thinking and help students self-identify and correct issues with their paraphrasing and citations.

Previously you may have used grading tools such as QuickMarks, Rubrics, etc in Turnitin’s Feedback Studio. In Canvas, Turnitin is only used to check for similarity of submissions. All grading is now done in Canvas SpeedGrader and GradeBook.

SpeedGrader streamlines the feedback process and helps to develop students' academic writing by allowing instructors to quickly provide feedback beyond a simple mark or grade in many formats, text, video and audio feedback can be given using SpeedGrader.

SpeedGrader allows lecturer to view and grade their student assignment in one place using a simple point scale or complex rubric. Some student assignments can be marked for feedback directly within the Gradebook submissions area.
