The Learning and Teaching Academy is based on the four pillars of learning: pedagogy; practice; accreditation and reflection.
We have established a college-wide approach to learning, teaching and assessment based on the ABC Learning Design Model, to drive more appropriate learning through supported technology. See the Our Approach section of the website to view key information on our pedagogical approach.
Our staff is active in promoting and celebrating lecturers’ best practice through vibrant learning, teaching and assessment communities across the College and the wider sector.
We are committed to supporting early career lecturers following PDA and TQFE qualifications. In addition, we support experienced staff in adjusting learning, teaching and assessment and embedding active learning. It is proposed that a College-based Teaching Qualification Tertiary Education (TQTE) , and a suite of CPD-refresh programs aligned to GTCs and Advance HE professional enquiry standards is offered to all lecturing staff.
One of our key aims is to engage academic staff in a career-long professional enquiry trajectory. This is achieved through supporting lecturers in improved scholarly activity and engagement in communities of practice within the College and across the sector. The aim of this activity is to enhance the academic reputation of our staff and the reputation of the College as a centre of digital learning excellence.
Underpinning each of these pillars are core values and aims, these include to:
Deliver digital transformation by facilitating timely and effective training and CPD through 1:1’s, webinars, workshops, mentoring and symposia.
Facilitate networking opportunities to engage academic staff.
Provide access to specially curated collections of physical and digital resources.
