Media Law & Creative Industries: An Intro

The Media department submitted a proposal to incorporate new technology to the law units within the department to allow them to be more accessible to students in a blended learning future. Their aim was to make the content more accessible and attractive for those students who find the topic dull and dry; building in a more consistent approach across the law units within the department and for use by other areas within the college.

The law units in the media department are worthy and necessary but can be dull for students. On campus we have delivery methods which lift the content to make them more interesting and entertaining. However, working from home has not allowed us normal practice and in a blended future, we are looking to create a much more interactive approach with the use of more up to date technology and teaching tools, such as Padlet, Wakelet and Genially.

The remit was to create materials for use in class and also interactive tools to enable students to absorb the content with independent study.

We have already employed some of these in our teaching this session to great success.

The resources have been created for one outcome, which allows students a much higher degree of interactivity and it is this model we wish to continue with the other outcomes and units dealing with law.

See below for a series of materials created for the course using Genially as the development tool
