The Guide checks weather forecasts and key weather indicators at appropriate times prior to the commencement of the activity, these timings include;
For general field operations – as early as possible on the morning of the activity
For Canyoning – current rainfall and river levels are checked regularly in the 24 hours prior
The Guide observes and interprets the local weather conditions at appropriate intervals prior to the commencement of the activity
Guides apply prior experience and local knowledge with a cautious approach when engaging in activities where weather conditions may be challenging or hazardous
Decisions to modify and/or cancel activities due to weather are made in consultation with the Lead Guide & CEO (where possible)
The Guide provides an overview of the expected weather conditions at the commencement of the activity for Participants
The Guide articulates any specific weather warnings or severe weather expected during the activity
Where a possibility of a hazardous weather trigger event exists, the Guide highlights the expectations and likely response
The Guide provides an overview of the expected weather conditions at an appropriate interval during the activity
Where possible and appropriate the Guide accesses weather forecasts using a mobile device
The Guide monitors the weather during the activity for signs of changes, hazardous weather and/or trigger events; participants are advised appropriately of anticipated weather conditions
