MAG always plans to avoid emergency situations, however if an emergency situation occurs we are committed to providing a swift, professional and reliable response.
Emergency response procedures and capabilities are detailed in two broad categories;
situations requiring non-urgent assistance
situations requiring urgent assistance.
In general, situations requiring non-urgent assistance are managed within the resources and capabilities of MAG. This may include situations where no specialised medical, rescue or technical services are required.
However, where urgent or specialist assistance is required MAG will request assistance and cooperate with emergency services including;
NSW Police Rescue
NSW Ambulance or
NSW Fire Brigade
NSW Rural Fire Service.
The procedures below detail the Emergency Response Procedures that are to be followed when responding to emergency situations:
The emergency response phases assist staff during emergency situations. Emergency situations are always unique events, no two emergencies happen in the same way. Therefore, the procedures presented are common actions and general principles required during the specified situations. Staff apply these actions and principles in combination with experience, training and good judgement. The checklists are presented in five steps.:
TRIGGER - the situation
PREPARE - people and resources for a likely response
IMMEDIATE ACTIONS - to follow when the situation occurs
EVACUATE OR RECOVER – participants and staff to a safe location
REPORT – the incident to the appropriate person and/or authority
