Congratulations to Southwest guitar teacher Mr. Jared Waln who has been named “Minnesota Guitar Teacher of the Year” by the Minnesota Guitar Society!

Southwest seniors Nithali Petsh and Eloise Weld are shown here donating $2,000 to the Southwest Visual Arts Program and teacher Ms. McDonald. Nithali and Eloise, as part of their IB CAS project, created their own non-profit organization and donated funds from selling art they created to support Southwest. A great example of Lakers giving back! 

SWHS Parents/Guardians – WE NEED YOU! The 2025 Senior Overnight Party can’t happen without your time, energy, and support—we are still in need of overnight volunteers! This isn’t just fun for the teens—spend the night with a great crew of volunteers and help us create a fun, memorable, and safe experience for our graduating seniors. Parents/guardians of freshmen and sophomores are especially encouraged to sign up for a shift—it’s a great way to see what this tradition is all about.

Memorial Day is a great day to enjoy time with friends and family. While doing so, let us all remember and honor the brave souls who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our freedom. May their courage inspire us to live with purpose and gratitude.
