Laker Families,
In case you did not see the following message from MPS last week, please see it below. We at Southwest stand lockstep with MPS in support of these values.
We want to express gratitude for what our students, staff, families and community bring to Southwest High School and Minneapolis Public Schools. We understand many people within our community are experiencing fear and uncertainty, especially immigrant and LGBTQ communities and their loved ones. We want to remind you that we value you and we are here to support you.
We reaffirm our commitment to equity, representation and anti-racism which guide our work to support each other. Every student deserves a safe and welcoming learning environment to receive a high-quality holistic education.

Conferences are coming up next week. Here are the details.
On Thursday, February 13, conferences will be held in person at Southwest from 4 - 8 p.m. Stop by anytime during that window.
On Friday, February 14, conferences are virtual only from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. To sign up for a virtual conference time, click this link: MyConference
There is no school for students on Friday, February 14 and Monday, February 17.
As a reminder, students in grades 9 and 10 may not leave campus to go out for lunch. Failure to abide by this expectation may result in a detention after school. Repeated violations may result in a suspension out of school. Please review and reinforce this expectation with your Laker.
Four members of the Southwest girls' cross country ski team will compete at the State meet next week at Giants Ridge. The relay team of juniors Keira Dahlquist and Ella Makosky placed second at the Section 2 meet on Thursday to advance; senior Zoe Sumner placed sixth and junior Tessa Dahlquist placed seventh to qualify individually.
The girls' team -- which includes three eighth graders -- finished third overall, narrowly missing a team bid to the State meet behind Washburn and Minnetonka. The boys' team finished in ninth place.
Way to go, Lakers!
