Congratulations to Southwest student Lyn Ampey for being selected as an MPS School Board Student Representative. She will do an outstanding job representing Southwest High School and all MPS students. Congratulations to Camden student Isiah Marin as well.

The Southwest Vocal and Instrumental programs were featured at the Minnesota Music Educators Association convention on Friday, Feb. 14. This was the first year in many that an MPS school has been chosen to perform. What a grand performance by all choirs and instrumental ensembles. Kudos to Mr. Fisher, Mr. Waln, and Mr. Wixson for their amazing preparation and to all Laker musicians for an incredible performance. Special thanks to Superintendent Dr. Sayles-Adams for attending.

Registration Deadline
The deadline for students to register for courses for the 25-26 school year is Thursday, February 27 at 3 p.m. Please remember to choose those elective courses carefully. We will honor those choices to build our schedule and ensure we have the teachers we need. Students will not be allowed to change electives in the fall. Your student is able to register via their grade level Google Form. Click HERE to go to the 25-26 Course Catalog and Registration. Your student will need to be logged into their MPS Google account to complete the registration form.

Lia Rulf at Alpine State
On Tuesday, Seniors Lia rulf and Lucy Renz represented the Lakers and the Minneapolis Alpine Ski Team at MSHSL Alpine State at Giants Ridge. Out of the 88 state qualifiers, Lia placed 30th and Lucy placed 17th, earning All State Honors. Congratulations to these two Senior alpine racers.

The relay team of juniors Keira Dahlquist and Ella Makosky placed fourth at the State meet on Wednesday at Giants Ridge. Junior Tessa Dahlquist placed 22nd in the individual pursuit to earn All-State honors. Senior Zoe Sumner also competed in the individual pursuit.
