For this session your child will require: -
Writing Pencil

Something to write on (Scrap book, Note pad, Paper)
Sounds are all around us. Most of these sounds we don't even notice because we hear them all the time. For this task you will be focusing on the sounds that are being made around you at home.
Close your eyes for 30 seconds and listen to all the sounds that you can hear. If you are in very quiet room with no sounds, go outside or move to another room of the house.
Using the table, write down all the sounds you hear in that 30 seconds.
Then complete the table by answering:
What the sound was like? Was it loud or soft? Was it a high sound like a bird tweeting or a low sound like a washing machine grumbling?
What do you think made that sound? Was it a person, animal, machine or something else?
How do you think that sound was made? What might be happening that is making the sounds you heard?
Choose one of the listed sounds in the table and draw it on another piece of paper. Draw what the sound might look like coming from it. How can you show what sounds look like if you can't see them? Don't forget to label your drawing!
