Today we read 'Koala Lou' by Mem Fox.
This story is about little Koala Lou. Her mother told her often, “Koala Lou, I DO love you!” but when Koala Lou’s mother has lots of children to look after, she does not tell her as often. To get the attention of her mother, Koala Lou decides to compete in the Bush Olympics gum tree-climbing event. She practices hard, but comes in second place. Koala Lou’s mother assures her that she is loved no matter what.
Think about why Koala Lou decided to join in on the Olympics. How did Koala Lou’s feelings change throughout the story? What do you think she learned?
Complete the activity attached by retelling the sequence of the events. Identify who the main characters are, the setting, the problem and the solution. What do you think the author is trying to tell us?

Morphemes are the meaningful parts of words. Sometimes we add to these words morphing or transforming them to change the meaning.
We often do this when writing plurals. Please see the video beside ->
We can also change words in other ways.
For example, 'sleep' morphing into 'sleepy' or 'boy' morphing into 'boyish'
