Typography, Text in Art Unit: Identity
Language and Text is a powerful tool that artists can thoughtfully incorporate into thier work to make a statement or show emotion. This week we are going to look at how Arts use Typography to communicate emotion in text. Gather your materials from your white canvas Art bag you recieved with your learning kit. Find a working space and lets get started.

Watch the provided videos about Paula Scher and Typography.
Then check on the slide show "Text in Art" to see how artist use text in thier work. You will be designing your own Typography image. You can use random letters, your name or your choice of word. Practicing first on scrap paper and play around using some of the elements of Art including line, shape, color, and visual texture, see what you can come up with.
Once you have generated ideas. Watch my youtube channel and create your own original Typography art piece.
When you are done, photograph your art work and upload it to Artsonia for review.
Write an artist statement in Artsonia to go with your submitted work.

Scrap paper, Watercolor Paper, ruler, watercolors, color pencils, pencil, cup for water . (Optional) art supplies of your own.
