Inspired by the book, The Dot by Peter H Reynolds. Dot Day in an international event that promotes Creativity, Courage and Collaboration.
Every year in Art I like to celebrate Dot Day by highlighting an artist who uses circles in thier work. This year we're going to look at the work of Sonia Delaunay. Sonia Delaunay is best know for her use of bold color and concentric circles. Concentric circles share the same center, so when you throw a rock into water it creates concentric circles.
Sonia Delaunay (14 November 1885 – December 1979) was a Ukrainian-born Russian artist, who spent most of her working life in Paris. She formally trained in Russia and Germany before moving to France and expanding her practice to include textile, fashion, and set design.
