Last week we looked at the importance of Cubism in Art History which led to other Art movements around the world including Futurism. Futurism was an art movement started in early 20th century Italy. Using various types of medium, futurist artists emphasized themes based in the increasing speed of technology, automobiles and airplanes of the industrial revolution. Futurism focuses on the movement of an object or figure, manipulating and overlaying an image several times to understand the movement it creates. This week you will be creating a figure drawing inspired by Futurism using repetition and value to show movement. Watch the videos below before getting started.
