Propaganda is information that promotes a commercial product , or shapes the perception of an organization, person or brand. Proaganda techniques can be used to persuade someone to buy something such as in advertising or rally people around various causes and events. Citizens have used propaganda posters to express their views since the birth of our Nation. See if you can identify the types of propaganda techniques used to expressed a point of view.
Direction:
Identify a current, modern-day issue that you feel passionate about.
Choose one of the 7 propaganda techniques to design a propaganda poster around the issue you have chosen.
Choose one of the following options:
create your own orginal poster
recreate a propganda poster from the past with a new modern message
create a propoganda poster from a fictional world, Star Wars, Harry Potter, ect.
Questions to Consider:
What imagery comes to mind when you think of this issue?
What words or phrases do you think of?
Can you connect a song, poem, person, celebrity, symbol to the issue?
What colors/lines/shape might be connected to the issue?
You can use color pencils, water colors, markers or create digitally. Think about how you can use color, feeling, unity and emphasis in your final piece.
