Unit: Movement in Art
Last week we looked at the art movement Afrofuturism which combines science-fiction, history and fantasy to explore the African American experiance and aims to connect those from the black diaspora with their forgotten ancestry. In the next few weeks I want you to reimagine the past and envision what can be. You will be creating a superhero based on yourself. If you were a superhero what would your power be? What would you look like? Start with an active superhero gesture, then design a costume using the elements of art including line, shape, color and value. Your Superhero will exist in a future world that you create using your choice of setting, either one or two point perspective or a landscape that includes a forground middle ground and background. This is review for some of you and new for others so choose what works best for you. Using your 6x9 watercolor paper and follow the links below to get started.
