This week we are going to talk about Texture. Texture is how something feels when it is touched such as scaly, furry or smooth. In art, the element of line and principle of repetition can be used to show visual texture. First, listen to one of my favorite books, "Where the Wild things are" as you listen think about what kind of textures the illustrator Maurice Sendak uses in his "Wild Things". Are they scaly, soft, feathery or furry. What kinds of lines does he use to create texture, curved, broken, zigzag? Know grab you art bag and lets get started making textured wild things of our own!
