Understanding PSEO Admission

Admission to Morris as a PSEO student is not the same as undergraduate admission to Morris.

PSEO students are not formally admitted to a degree program within the University; they are officially considered a non-degree seeking student.

If, upon high school graduation, PSEO students wish to attend the UMN Morris, we will assist with converting their application to a full-time, degree-seeking student.

Once admitted as a PSEO student, you do NOT need to reapply each term to remain in the PSEO program. However, admission is on a semester by semester basis upon review of academic performance of the previous semester. You must remain in good academic standing.

See Satisfactory Academic Progress- Nondegree Student Dismissal Policy.

Consultation with High School Counselor/Homeschool Administrator

It is extremely important that you review your course selections with your high school counselor/homeschool administrator prior to registration in order to verify that you are fulfilling high school graduation requirements. Your high school (not the PSEO program) determines how your credits will transfer to your high school.

You must also keep your high school counselor/homeschool administrator up-to-date on the status of your enrollment in the PSEO Program. The PSEO Adviser will send your high school counselor/homeschool administrator a copy of your course enrollment after the second week of classes. In the case of a course withdrawal, you are required to notify your high school or homeschool of your enrollment change. You are also expected to notify your high school counselor/homeschool administrator immediately if you are dismissed from the program, in order to ensure that you develop a contingency plan to complete any remaining high school requirements.

Understanding PSEO Registration

Students will be permitted to register for courses after they have confirmed their intent to enroll by returning the confirmation card enclosed in their admittance packet.

IMPORTANT: You may make changes to your class schedule by emailing the PSEO Adviser using your University email address or by making an in-person or virtual office appointment with the PSEO Adviser. You may not request changes via the telephone. Your parent/guardian or high school counselor/homeschool administrator may not request changes for you.

As a PSEO student, registration is on a semester by semester basis. If you are registered for fall courses, you will be allowed to be enrolled in spring courses when spring open enrollment begins; however, if after the release of fall grades in December your University GPA makes you ineligible, you will be notified and unenrolled from your spring courses.

You are required to maintain a 2.50 cumulative and term grade point average in your University of Minnesota courses during your participation in the program. It is important that you understand that the UMN Morris staff has the right and responsibility to act in what they believe to be the student’s and the program’s best interests.

See Satisfactory Academic Progress - Nondegree Student Dismissal Policy.

After Registration and Starting the Term

All students new to the University of Minnesota need to initiate their Internet ID account. The information needed to initiate your account is included the admittance packet from the Admissions Office. Your Internet ID account only needs to be initiated once, so if you have taken classes at any of the University of Minnesota campuses (Duluth, Crookston, Rochester, Twin Cities, or Morris), you will use the same University Internet ID and password. If you don’t have your letter containing your student identification number, contact the Office of Admissions at 1-888-866-3382 to get your ID number.

Visit the UMN Morris One Stop Student Services for more information about updating  your personal information including how to add your preferred name, pronouns and gender identity, and how to set up parent/guest access.

Check your class schedule by going to your MyU portal and clicking on the Academics tab. Move the calendar to the first full week of class to see your schedule. To check your full registration, including waitlisted courses, confirm your class schedule in your MyU shopping cart

Disability & Accommodations

We value disability as an aspect of diversity and want to ensure that you are able to fully participate in all programming available to you. It is extremely important to us that each of our PSEO students has the same access, support, and opportunity as everyone else.

If you have a disability or health condition, or suspect you have one, and would like to have a confidential discussion about accommodations, please do the following:

Prior to your Orientation date

After your Orientation date

Note: you should do this even if you think you might not want accommodations. If you had an IEP or 504 plan in high school, or any specific diagnosis that may impact your learning in PSEO, you should reach out to the DRC - even just to see what they have to say.  Contacting them is just the start of a conversation. It doesn't lock you into anything.
