Optional Expenses

PSEO covers the basic expenses of attending the University: tuition, campus fees and course materials.

Below are some additional optional items that students can choose to purchase.

Keep in mind that the items below are not covered by PSEO, and any items charged to your student account need to be paid on time and in full.

Summer Courses and Credits

PSEO funding is not available for summer as there is no general education revenue available. Courses offered during UMN Morris Summer Term (May Session, Summer Session I, Summer Session II and Full Summer Session) are not covered by the PSEO program. This includes summer research practicums, summer directed studies and summer internships.

PSEO students are welcome to take summer term courses and credits as non-degree seeking students at their own expense

Note: High school students who wish to take a course as a non-degree seeking student after they graduate from high school should check with the institution they plan to enroll in for the next academic year before registering for summer courses. This is because taking courses after high school graduation could affect your first year status, potential first year scholarships and financial aid.

Housing

UMN Morris PSEO students may live in UMN Morris Housing/Residential Life at their own expense.

Meal Plan

Meal Plans are not covered by the PSEO program, but both resident and commuting PSEO students may purchase a meal plan at their own expense.

Optional/Recommended Course Materials

Optional/recommended (not required) course materials are not covered by the PSEO program. PSEO students may purchase these items at their own expense.

Alternative Course Material Format

Alternative Course Material Formats are not covered by the PSEO program unless is it required for the student under an agreement through the Disability Resource Center.

Non-consumable Supplies

Equipment and non-consumable supplies are not covered by the PSEO program (e.g. cameras, calculators, backpacks, lab coats, lab goggles).

Basic School Supplies

Basic school supplies are not covered by the PSEO program (e.g. notebooks, graph paper, pencils, pens, rulers).

Parking Permit

Parking permits are not covered by the PSEO program. See the Parking & Transportation page in this handbook for more information about purchasing a parking permit.

Morris Transit Service and Weekend Shuttle

See the Parking & Transportation page in this handbook for more information about public transit options.

Locker Rental

Lockers are also available in the lower level of the Student Center and are accessible in two ways. Coin operated lockers are 25 cents per use and an unlimited use locker may be rented for $5 per year ($3 for the summer). Unlimited use lockers may be rented from the Information Center.  See General, service and usage, and other fees.

Instrument Lockers

Instrument lockers are available to PSEO students taking music classes for instrument storage.

Printing and Photocopying

You can print from your device or a campus computer lab, or you can use duplicating services.

See Printing on Campus | WebPrint | WebPrint Guide

Regional Fitness Center (RFC) Membership / RFC Lockers

PSEO students do not pay a Student Services Fee, so if you want Regional Fitness Center (RFC) access you will have to purchase a membership or pass. Students must be at least 16 years old.

If you are enrolled in a PE course (SSA 1051 Fitness for Life and SSA 1101 First Aid), you do not need to purchase an RFC membership to participate in class.

If purchasing an RFC membership during the summer, make sure to tell the staff that you're on the PSEO student list, so they know you are eligible to purchase a membership.

If you would like to use an RFC locker, you have two options:

Study Abroad and Experiential Courses

The fees for study abroad and experiential learning options are not credit-based, but rather calculated as a package that includes tuition and books, room and board, transportation, and other miscellaneous items. As such, the PSEO program cannot cover these costs.

Furthermore, the tuition for all semester classes are bundled together such that students who wish to pay out of pocket for this experience cannot take any other PSEO classes in that semester.

Students must be 18 years of age by the time they go abroad. If you are considering coming to the University as an undergraduate and want to explore your Study Abroad options, contact the Academic Center for Enrichment.
