Applying to Another College

Transcripts and Transferring PSEO Credits

Remember that you are generating a permanent University of Minnesota transcript. Your University of Minnesota transcript and the grades on it will follow you wherever you go.

If after high school graduation you plan to apply to UMN Morris or another U of M campus (UMN Crookston, UMN Duluth, UMN Rochester or UMN Twin Cities), you will not need to transfer UMN Morris credits as your UMN Morris grades are already on your University of Minnesota transcript; you will simply build on the transcript you started as a PSEO student.

If you plan to apply to an institution outside the University of Minnesota, you will need to send your official U of M transcripts to that institution by ordering it through One Stop. Remember that accepting transfer credits is always a decision made by the institution accepting the credits. In the majority of cases, your PSEO credits will transfer to other colleges and universities. You should contact the Office of Admissions at institutions you are interested in attending after high school graduation to inquire about the transferability of your PSEO coursework.

Many states; however, do not have programs like Minnesota’s PSEO program, so some out-of-state institutions may not understand that you have completed regular college-level course work before high school graduation. In talking with officials at those institutions, stress that the program allows high school students to take regular UMN Morris classes. Always keep syllabi from the classes you have taken in case there are questions about the content covered in the course.

There are a few schools that simply will not accept PSEO credits. If you are concerned about the transfer of credits, contact the Office of Admissions of the colleges where you will be applying. If you run into problems, the PSEO Adviser would be willing to contact someone on your behalf.

If the college or university you are attending (or will be attending) requires you to obtain written verification about your time in PSEO, send such request(s) directly to the PSEO Adviser.

Students Deferring Admission / Taking Summer Courses After High School Graduation

Please note that if you plan to defer your undergraduate admission for a semester or a year (or more), taking courses after graduating high school (including summer courses) may revoke your offer of admission and/or change your admission/application status (e.g. from first year student to transfer student). Contact your college or university's admissions office for more information.
