Understanding Your
Graduation Progress
PSEO students should learn to read their APAS. PSEO student have not declared a major so they should use the "What-if" APAS report. See step by step instructions.
Considerations for students planning to graduate from college two years after high school graduation.
Certain majors may be difficult to complete in two years after high school graduation, even when taking courses for two years as a full-time PSEO student, because of the course sequencing of courses and required prerequisites.
When you are applying for internships and/or full-time employment, it may be difficult to compete with students who have had more years of college-level leadership and work experiences.
See How to Graduate in Four Years to understand basic principles of careful planning to save you time and money.
Most majors require 120 total credits, so you need an average of 15 credits per semester to graduation in four years.
Avoid dropping, withdrawing or repeating courses when possible.
Optimizing PSEO courses
Select a course that will satisfy both a high school graduation requirement and a general education requirement.
If you are undecided about a future major, you can complete college general education requirements that move you closer to college graduation.
Consider spacing your general education requirements throughout your undergraduate career so that your final semesters are not packed only with major course requirements.
Select a course that will satisfy both a high school graduation requirement and a major admissions/core requirement so that you can move more quickly into your major.
Some major requirements may be counted both in the major and also as a general education requirement maximizing efficiency to achieving a degree.
Many major requirements are sequenced meaning that the courses must be taken in a particular order. Plan ahead to take core major requirements that act as gateway courses to other courses in the major.
Select a introductory course to explore a major to gauge your interest.
You might be interested in a specific major. By taking an introductory course in that major, you can determine whether or not you will have further interest in this area.
