April 4th, 2025
Hello Families,
We enjoyed our rainforest for one last week and sadly took our animals and vines down today. Exciting events this week: we began our opinion writing unit, we had a stuffie day for meeting our transition goal, the Book Fair, grade 3 & 4 students came to our classroom and read their informational books and we went to all school meeting led by Ms. Poor's class! It was a busy week!
Learning Highlights from the Week
First Grade
Students worked with fractions, exploring half and fourths.
Second Grade
Students worked on problem solving with multiple steps. They used their place value knowledge to add groups of tens and ones and represented their thinking using equations.
Students worked on bossy r, magic e, open syllables and vowel teams. We worked on the author's message through a read loud called Being Frank.
This week in writing, students learned about stating opinions and reasons for their opinions. We practiced stating our opinions and reasons through a game called, Would you Rather.
Next week, we will start a science unit on the sun and moon.
