Columbus went to Haiti in 1492 thinking it was India. He also was looking for gold, silk, and spices.

Haiti’s average temperature in January is 88°F. In July, it is 95°F in Port Au Prince. In the mountains the average temperature is 50°F. That's cold for Haiti! The average rainfall in the southern region is 40 inches. In the northern region it is 80 inches. In the western region the average rainfall is 20 inches.

In Haiti, it’s hot, so it’s a great climate if you love summer and spring all the time.

Haitians also grow their own food. They grow coffee, mangos, sugarcane, rice, and corn.
